Spotlight On The Tip Top Lofts

Spotlight On The Tip Top Lofts

This stunning Art Deco building houses some of our all-time favourite Toronto lofts for sale. Originally completed in 1929, the building was home base for Tip Top Tailors Ltd, a menswear clothing retailer, including their warehouse, manufacturing, retail and administration / office spaces.

The building was designated a heritage structure back in 1972 and converted in 2002 into residential lofts including a new, six-storey soft loft addition on top.

Here’s why the Tip Top Tailor lofts get top marks from our team of Toronto Loft Experts.

Why We Love The Tip Top Lofts

It’s Got Character. And Then Some.

The Tip Top Lofts are a combination of authentic, hard lofts on the base of the building and a modern, soft loft addition above, with many unit offering incredible views of the city or lake.

While the units are all really unique, those in the original structure are abslutely stunning. The hard loft units boast soaring, large factory windows, 14’ ceilings, mushroom columns, exposed ductwork and gorgeous wood beams that you just can’t find in a new build.

Even the soft lofts are oozing with character features with a style and taste-level that complement the original structure’s heritage.

It’s Location Is A Plus. For Some Buyers.

Here’s the thing - the location right on the Lakeshore is not everybody’s cup of tea. But it’s super convenient if you commute and need easy access in and out of the city. A lot of buyers who spend a lot of time in their cars will prefer the convenience of being on the southern edge of the city rather than waste the extra time every day cutting through the heart of downtown.

There’s more to this address than highways however. It’s positioned directly opposite Coronation Park (pictured above) which is one of the most picturesque parks in the city. And it’s steps to the waterfront which is undergoing massive revitalization. This building is pet-friendly and a lot of dog owner make good use of the Martin Goodman walking trails and waterfront parks. Plus, you’re a short stroll to the CNE grounds.

Its Amenities Are Tops For A Loft.

Hard lofts aren’t known for their amenities but the Tip Top Lofts boast pretty impressive fitness, recreation and guest facilities. There’s a full-sized gym, whirlpool and sauna, business meeting rooms, parking garage with visitor parking, concierge and security guard as well as phone entry and a fantastic party room with common area bbq, pictured here.

Its Got An Iconic Top Off.

We have to give a nod to the iconic Tip Top Tailor sign that was re-installed about a decade after the loft conversion. But with a twist. Or rather, an angle. The sign installed on a slight angle after beingre-furbished back to its original state with one difference - the neon was replaced with LED lights.

There are currently a number of Tip Top lofts for sale as well as units for rent, including Unit 629 pictured below from our partners at
